$13,800 in hospital parking for Jake's cancer family
Candice Ward and her partner spent nearly $ 13,800 over four years to park at SickKids Children's Hospital in Toronto, where their son Jake was being treated for cancer. The resident of Markham, a suburb of Toronto, says it was a huge financial burden at the time (2012 to 2015), especially since she had to stop working to watch over Jake. However, the parking bill is still steep for many families of hospitalized children, says the organization Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer (OPACC).
