OPACC is recruiting for its Board of Directors!

Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer (OPACC) is an independent registered charity whose overall goal is to be the parent voice for families with children diagnosed with cancer across the Province of Ontario. We are currently recruiting for volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors. Positions will be based on a one-year term with the opportunity to renew for up to 4 additional terms.

The Board of Directors plays a key leadership role to ensure that we continue to implement strategic directions while raising the funds necessary to advance support and care.

Ideally, our Board will be comprised of a team of leaders with combined experience in fundraising, finance, healthcare management, public relations, law, corporate governance, strategic planning, and senior management in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The Board of Directors meets four times a year: in person in Toronto in June and November and via teleconference in February and September. Directors are required to attend at least half of the annual Board meetings, either in person or via teleconference. In between meetings, Directors communicate regularly via e-mail.

In particular, we are currently seeking committed individuals with backgrounds in the following fields:

  • Information Technology

  • Finance

  • Government

  • Law

  • Marketing

  • Healthcare

For those who cannot currently commit to full Board membership, OPACC also offers short-term opportunities for Committee memberships to collaborate on working groups and specific projects, including in the following areas:

  • Fundraising

  • Education

  • Advocacy

For further information about the Board of Directors and OPACC, please see our website at www.opacc.org or contact us at info@opacc.org

Selected candidates will be asked to submit the following for our records:

  • Recent (within 5 years) criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening (OPACC will provide a letter as proof that you are a volunteer, which in many cases allows you to get the check done free of charge; in case you are charged, OPACC will reimburse you the cost upon submission of your receipt)

  • Full contact information and DOB for CRA filing requirements

  • Photo and short bio for our website

  • Signed confidentiality agreement, Code of Conduct, photo waiver, and Conflict of Interest Declaration forms (OPACC will provide these to you as part of your "Welcome Package")

OPACC will provide all Directors with a complimentary set of business cards and an OPACC golf shirt.
