AGM 2016

Childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment can be highly stressful not only for the child but for the entire family, resulting in psychological distress that needs to be addressed throughout the cancer treatment trajectory, starting at diagnosis. In this presentation, Dr. Barrera will discuss a unique tool, the "Psychosocial Assessment Tool” (PAT) that was designed to be completed by parents or caregivers to determine the psychosocial risk of the child and family shortly after diagnosis. She will share the research that has been conducted by her and colleagues around the world regarding the utility of PAT, and how the tool can be used in the clinical setting. Information derived from this tool can assist Health Care Providers in identifying the family's psychosocial needs and providing psychosocial support. Sufficient time will be devoted for questions.

For those who can't attend in person, there is a teleconference option available for you to call in, listen in, and ask questions. Please contact us for the number and more information!
