Mortality Risk of Second Malignancies in Childhood Cancer Survivors

A team of researchers showed that long-term childhood cancer survivors who carry cancer-predisposing genetic variants are at an increased risk of mortality from subsequent malignant neoplasms. These findings, which were recently published in The Lancet Oncology, underscore the importance of genetic counseling and testing for these patients.
